By creating and designing a unique wedding seating plan, you can create a transformative atmosphere at your wedding and help set the tone for the rest of your venue. When guests find their card from the display, they’ll feel special and welcome knowing that you reserved a special place for them on the most important day of your life.
Today, we’re here to show you how to make a beautiful wedding seating plan using Ling’s Moment flowers, greenery, and a vintage old window frame. If you like, bring your friends and family along to help you throughout the design process. Your wedding journey is even more special when you share it with loved ones!
What you’ll need:
To make this DIY wedding seating plan, you'll need:
- Hot Glue Gun
- Pliers
- Window Frame
- Twine
- Cardstock Cards
- Clothes Pins
- Your Creative Spirit
You can use any combination of flowers and greenery you like to customize your design, but we recommend using one of our designer flower boxes. Each box comes with a full variety of color-matched flowers and greenery in various sizes and species, allowing you to harmonize your design easily. We used a deluxe flower box from our Bridgerton Pastel color collection in the shade “tender blush”.
If you don’t have a window frame, you can substitute a glassless picture frame, or any other large wooden frame that you have on hand. Our window frame is approximately 24" x 31", but if yours is larger, you might need more DIY materials to create a floral arrangement. It all depends on how many seating cards you need to display.
How to make a DIY floral Seating Plan:
Step 1: Tie the greenery to the frame
Begin by removing the rose leaf greenery vines from your designer flower box and tying them to the frame. Tie the ends together in the middle, so that the vines look like they’re branching outward from the center of the frame.
Add a wire at each end and one in the middle, for stability.
Step 2: Attach wires
Now, let’s prepare our window frame for flowers.
Take floral wire and wrap it around the frame where you’d like the flowers to be. Tie an initial set of wires around the frame, then use hot glue to secure them. Make sure that you have wires pointing outwards, as we’ll use hot glue to attach the flower blossoms to them directly.
Space the wires throughout the length of the frame, concentrating them in the center where the flowers will be the most plentiful.
Step 3: Add flowers
Now that you’ve prepared your frame, let’s bring it to life with flowers!
Start by gently tugging a flower blossom to remove it from its stem. Apply hot glue to the base of the flower, then attach it to the extended wire. Hold it in place for a few seconds to allow the glue to set.
Attach flowers one-by-one throughout the length of the frame until you’ve used the whole box. Don’t use the smallest accent flowers just yet. We’ll use them as a finishing touch later.
Once the glue has set, you can bend the wires to adjust the placement of the flowers on your frame. Try to create miniature clusters of flowers, which combine to form a more beautiful whole. There are no hard and fast rules, so trust your intuition as you design your seating plan.
Step 4: Add details
Let’s add some details to our floral arrangement!
Take the accent flowers from your flower box and insert them near flowers or areas that you’d like to emphasize. Then, use your wire cutters to clip off cuttings from your greenery and attach them to your design.
You can add as many or as few greenery cuttings as you like. Attach a large number of leaves for a lush look, or only a handful for a more understated effect. It all depends on your vision and your overall theme for your wedding day. If you have any greenery leftover, you can always put it to good use in another DIY wedding project.
Step 5: Add twine and clothespins
We’re almost there! Now that the floral arrangement is finished, let’s add a way to attach the seating cards.
Cut a piece of twine or rope and tie it around the panes on your window frame. Tie as many as you need, depending on the number of panes in your window frame and the number of cards you need to display. Use wooden clothespins to attach the seating cards to your frame.
With that, your wedding seating plan is complete!
All finished!
Congratulations! Now, your beautiful wedding seating plan is all finished. We recommend displaying the design alongside other centerpieces and floral arrangements to create a cohesive and welcoming display. By creating beautiful wedding decorations, you can help sculpt your environment to create beautiful moments that you and your guests will cherish forever.
